Keeper of My Dreams
by KiiskeeN'tum

You who keep the Council Fire, where I sit to learn what I must know
That I might accomplish what I am Given to do in this World.
Guide me gently, teach me well, For time grows short for our people.

Time grows forward here, while I sit and learn with you.
Our People await the leaders lost to them.
Spirit World, full of knowledge, grant me Strength to keep the Faith.
Grant me Peace within my Spirit, Guard me as I make the Journey.

In Dreams I sit before the Sacred Fire, You speak to me in words now lost,
    Ancient, Sacred, layered in Wisdom,
Seeking the lessons only you can teach me.  I trust who I am, before and now,
And believe the words you give in love.
Keep me safely on the Path between The Paths of Earth and Spirit,
That what must be will come.

The Buffalo Clan
The primary teaching of the Buffalo is Respect.  Respect first for one’s own Gifts, and then respect for all that exists within Creation: the Four Sacred Directions, and all that share with us the Great Mystery of Life.  We are related to all that exists: the two leggeds and the four leggeds, those that crawl, those that swim, those that fly; the rocks and the trees and all of plant kind, Grandfather Sun, Grandmother Moon, Father Sky and Mother Earth are all our relatives.

Providers

For countless generations, the Buffalo was the main provider of food, shelter, clothing and tools, all necessities required for survival for the Native North American peoples who lived on the Plains.  Much of the society and culture of these peoples was built around and influenced by this animal.
In the wild, Buffalo is a herd animal, part of an integral community of inter-related parts, each dependent on the group for survival.
So too, their Human Kind brothers prefer to be part of stable and harmonious community or family.
Buffalo was the all-provider.  Everything needed to survive was obtained through the Gift of this animal.  It gave totally of itself to sustain the People.  Buffalo Clan people tend to be excellent providers for their families, willing to give all of themselves, for the well-being of others.
They may experience difficulty in caring for themselves, especially if someone they care about is in need.
Once a herd of Buffalo begins to run, the entire herd follows suit.  So, Buffalo Clan people may often "go with the flow" of popular opinion, or refuse to change their opinions, once formed.  They will grab an idea or opinion and run with it, often to their own detriment.
Buffalo are always on the move, from place to place.  Buffalo Clan may exhibit a restlessness and need to move about from place to place.  They may feel confined and hemmed in by too many rules, requests or expectations.
Buffalo Clan people enjoy the social environment of a close-knit group of family and friends.  They thrive and feel most content when surrounded by loved ones.
They dislike being alone and will often go to great lengths to avoid it. They need to learn to be comfortable with their own company.  It is difficult for them to hold to their own ideas or opinions, as they find it easier to change their expectations in accordance with those around them
